Park · Greenwich, Connecticut

Greenwich Point Park beach

A roughly 147-acre beach peninsula in Old Greenwich, once banker J. Kennedy Tod's private "Innis Arden" estate, open to the public year-round during daylight for swimming, boating, and walks; restored historic buildings on site include the Feake-Ferris House and Innis Arden Cottage.

History

Assembled by banker J. Kennedy Tod in 1884-1887 as his private estate; the Town of Greenwich bought it for $550,000 on January 10, 1945, and Connecticut's Supreme Court overturned its residents-only beach rule in 2001.
