History
Three artworks are recorded on and in the building. Mary E. Erckenbrack's Ceramic Mural on Athletics of 1955, accession number 1955.21, is carved and glazed ceramic, 300 by 192 by 1 1/2 inches, on the Post Street external facade. An untitled work of 2009 by Horace Washington, accession number 2014.147.a-i, is glazed ceramic tile and glass, 48 by 1560 by 404 inches, on the exterior upper facade; the San Francisco Arts Commission commissioned it for Hamilton Recreation Center. Johanna Poethig's Celebrate Ability of 2013, accession number 2014.146.a-f, is hand-painted ceramic tile and byzantine glass smalti mosaic, in roundels of 48 inches diameter and 1 inch thickness, inside the main hall walls.
