Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church

The Grade I listing was made on 18 March 1965, the second of the two Grade I entries in Barnet. It faces St Jude-on-the-Hill across Central Square; the two grid references are TQ 25449 88471 and TQ 25516 88361. Henrietta Barnett set up the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust Ltd in 1906 to buy 243 acres from Eton College, Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin prepared the master plan, and the suburb consists of just over 5,000 properties; despite the name it is in Barnet, and Hampstead itself is in the London Borough of Camden. The church stands in the Hampstead Garden Suburb conservation area, designated by the London Borough of Barnet in 1968 and extended in October 2010. Waterlow Court, off Heath Close, is Grade II* listed, NHLE 1064889, and is private residential.
