History
The Grade I listing was made on 18 March 1965, entered as CHURCH OF ST JUDE. It is one of the two Grade I entries in Barnet; the other is the Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church, NHLE 1078866, about 120 m away on the opposite side of Central Square, which Edwin Lutyens laid out. The Institute, now the Henrietta Barnett School, faces the same square and is Grade II* listed, NHLE 1359028, listed 18 March 1965. The square lies in the Hampstead Garden Suburb conservation area, designated by the London Borough of Barnet in 1968 and extended in October 2010.
