Hancock Shaker Village
Museum · Pittsfield, Massachusetts
A former Shaker commune museum whose visitor entrance sits in Pittsfield, though the historic commune itself spanned Hancock, Pittsfield, and Richmond.
History
Hancock Shaker Village's own website lists its site location as 1843 West Housatonic St., with a separate mailing address of P.O. Box 927, Pittsfield, MA 01202. Per Wikipedia, the historic commune "emerged in the towns of Hancock, Pittsfield, and Richmond in the 1780s" and is described as "a former Shaker commune in Hancock and Pittsfield, Massachusetts" -- the historic commune straddled town lines, though the museum's present visitor entrance address places it in Pittsfield.
