Harrington Hill

Harrington Hill's rope tow traces to at least 1969, when the Strafford Athletic Association relocated the original Strafford rope tow to land owned by Lib and Harold Harrington, behind Barrett Hall above Route 132, per New England Ski History's Harrington Hill page. The area closed around 1985 because of rising liability-insurance costs, then was revived after sitting idle for a season when the Strafford Lions Club took over funding it. Harrington Hill runs a single rope tow, funded by the Strafford Lions Club, on land owned by Rod and Cindy Maclay who permit the tow to continue operating; it is free to use, open to town residents and guests, and runs Saturdays and Sundays 1-4pm plus select holidays when natural snow allows. The rope tow received new rope in fall 2014, according to a site visit reported in February 2015.
