Hull Triangle

The triangle and the adjacent avenue are named for Isaac Hull (1773-1843), the American naval officer best known for his command of the frigate Constitution during the War of 1812. Hull died in Philadelphia on February 13, 1843, and his last words were reported to have been "I strike my flag." The park was built in conjunction with the Queens-Midtown Expressway, now the Long Island Expressway; the City acquired the property in 1953 and transferred it to Parks.
