History

NYC Parks' historical sign names it for William E. Kelly, 1872 to 1929, a Brooklyn-born Kings County postmaster who later served as Clerk of Kings County until his death. The same sign refers to a larger neighbor west of the BMT Brighton Beach transit line also named for Kelly.
