History

The library dates its foundation to 1933. It describes its home as a 'Grade-II listed, 18th century building' which 'currently has no lift and has various other issues with accessibility, including no step-free toilets'. The building was originally a schoolhouse and was later subdivided, one part becoming a pub, and the facade was extensively renovated in the late 1960s. The Grade I Clerk's Well survives in the basement of number 16, Farringdon Lane, NHLE 1298055, about 60 m away.
