Mashamoquet Brook

Formed by merging three parks into more than 1,000 acres, with a 6.5-mile trail network passing the Wolf Den, Table Rock, and the Indian Chair rock formation. Two campgrounds hold 53 sites; open daily, 8 a.m. to sunset.

History

In 1742, young farmer Israel Putnam is said to have tracked a wolf to a den here and shot it, earning the nickname 'Wolf Putnam.' The site joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
