Mercati di Traiano — Museo dei Fori Imperiali
Museum · Monti, Italy
Six levels of Roman building stepped up the slope of the Quirinal alongside the Forum of Trajan, now holding the Museo dei Fori Imperiali. The markets and the museum are one institution, not two.
History
Roma Capitale records that the complex was given the name Mercati di Traiano at its rediscovery of 1926–1934. Conservation and structural restoration ran from 2005 to 2007, and the Museo dei Fori Imperiali was inaugurated in the autumn of 2007. The Torre delle Milizie is entered through it. One caution about the address: the street entrance is on via Quattro Novembre, which boundary tests place on the Trevi side of the line, so no rione is claimed here for the doorway itself.
