Museo Storico dei Bersaglieri
Museum · Castro Pretorio, Italy
The regimental museum of the Bersaglieri, housed inside Porta Pia since 1932.
History
The Sovrintendenza Capitolina states that Porta Pia has housed the Museo Storico dei Bersaglieri since 1932, and that the museum holds relics of the Corps' foundation, of the Risorgimento campaigns and of both world wars, with a Sacrario dedicated to more than 100,000 fallen on the ground floor. Turismo Roma gives the museum's inauguration date as 18 September 1932 and describes the floors in turn: the Risorgimento campaigns of 1848 to 1866 on the first floor, the colonial campaigns above, the First World War below and the Second World War on the ground floor, with bronze busts of the Corps' figures in the courtyard. The museum is run by the Esercito Italiano. No source states its opening hours, so none are given here.
