Palazzo Mattei Albani Del Drago

Italian Wikipedia's article on the rione records the palace as Mannerist, dated 1587, built by Domenico Fontana for Muzio Mattei, on Via delle Quattro Fontane at Via XX Settembre. The Sovrintendenza Capitolina's page for the Quattro Fontane independently records that Muzio Mattei paid for the fountain on the corner of his own palace, later the property of the Albani Del Drago, and that this corner carries the figure of the Arno with a lion.

The Sovrintendenza records that the fountain on this corner was made under Sixtus V, attributes it to Domenico Fontana with Pietro Berrettini da Cortona, and dates the work to 1588-1593 and 1667-69. It was originally fed by the Acquedotto Felice, and the Sovrintendenza records that Muzio Mattei, like the other adjoining landowners, paid for it in exchange for a free concession of water.
