Piazza Borghese
Attraction · Campo Marzio, Italy
The square on the flank of Palazzo Borghese, faced today by a building of the Sapienza architecture faculty.
History
Roma Capitale records Borghese settlement here from the sixteenth century, and the expansion under Paul V, 1605 to 1621, and Cardinal Scipione Borghese between via di Ripetta and San Girolamo degli Schiavoni. The square remained a private space attached to the palace until the nineteenth century, and was closed on the via di Ripetta side between 1923 and 1928 by the building that now houses the Sapienza architecture faculty.
