Prison Ship Martyrs' Monument
Historic site · Fort Greene, New York
A 149-foot granite Doric column by Stanford White of McKim, Mead & White, with a bronze urn by the sculptor Adolph Weinman. It marks a crypt holding the remains of more than 11,500 American prisoners of war who died aboard British prison ships in Wallabout Bay.
History
Dedicated on November 14, 1908 by President-elect William Howard Taft.
