RAF Kenley fighter pens

The surviving blast pens of RAF Kenley stand on Kenley Common, Hayes Lane, CR8 5EU, on ground the City of London Corporation holds as one of the four Coulsdon Commons. Two scheduled monuments cover them: a group of four World War II fighter pens, NHLE 1021242, over 0.76 hectares, and a group of seven, NHLE 1021243, over 1.16 hectares. As scheduled monuments neither entry carries a grade, and the airfield is still partly in aviation use.
History
Historic England first scheduled both groups on 6 September 2004 and gives District: Croydon (London Borough) for each. The record for the group of seven carries seven distinct national grid references, one per pen. OpenStreetMap records an RAF Kenley Tribute memorial and a Croydon Battle of Britain RAF Memorial in the borough. The two nearest stations to the four-pen monument are Whyteleafe, 1,084 m, and Whyteleafe South, 1,387 m, both served by Southern and both outside Greater London in Tandridge, Surrey; Kenley station is 2,008 m.
