Ridgewood Reservoir

A drinking-water reservoir built between 1856 and 1858, decommissioned and drained in 1989 and preserved since as a wildlife area. It was designated a Class I freshwater wetland in 2018, and its perimeter walking and cycling path connects to the Brooklyn-Queens Greenway.
History
A $6.92 million renovation completed in October 2013 added accessible, bicycle-friendly pathways, new fencing, lighting and plantings around the basins while preserving them as habitat. The reservoir sits between the Jackie Robinson Parkway to the north, Highland Boulevard to the south, Vermont Place to the west and Cypress Hills National Cemetery to the east.
