Riverwalk / Veterans Memorial Park

A 10-acre riverside park along Canal Street, created on the remediated site of the former Sponge Rubber plant that burned in a 1975 arson. Holds monuments to WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the USS Thresher and the Civil War, and hosts the city's carnivals, fairs and fireworks.
