Shakespeare's Globe
Theater · Bankside, England
Shakespeare's Globe is at 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, SE1 9DT. The reconstruction opened in 1997, and Wikidata records its inception and opening as 1997 and the architect as Pentagram. The site also holds the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, an indoor candlelit wooden theatre with cushioned bench seating. No source states a weekly opening schedule, so none is given here.
History
The reconstruction is not itself on the National Heritage List for England. The archaeological remains of the original Globe are a scheduled monument on a separate site off Park Street, NHLE 1012806, scheduled on 13 December 1989 over 0.169 hectares. Two further playhouse sites in the same streets are scheduled: the Rose Theatre, NHLE 1012707, on 28 February 1992, and the Hope Playhouse with the remains of three further bear gardens, NHLE 1433280, on 20 September 2016.
