History
The Grade I listing was made on 21 September 1951 as list entry 1194471, one of four Grade I entries in the borough alongside Headstone Manor, St Mary Harrow on the Hill and The Old Schools at Harrow School. The building retains a stone tower of about 1360, but the main body was rebuilt in the eighteenth century in Baroque style for James Brydges, 1st Duke of Chandos, whose seat at Canons stood immediately to the north. The Chandos Mausoleum is an early eighteenth-century English Baroque building by James Gibbs, in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust, and it has no separate entry of its own. Canons Park station, on the Jubilee line, is 395 m away. HA8 6RB is an Edgware postcode that resolves to Harrow, Canons ward.
