Torsney Playground
Park · Sunnyside, New York
A NYC Parks playground at 41-15 Skillman Avenue, built in the 1950s and named for George F. Torsney, a local political figure and World War I veteran. The park contains the Lou Lodati Playground.
History
The Lou Lodati Playground was named in 1999 by New York City Council resolution for the longtime community organizer Lou Lodati (1908–1996), known locally as "the Mayor of Sunnyside." NYC Parks gives both the park's sign name and its 311 name as Torsney Playground, and its sign text describes the park as serving the Sunnyside area.
