The Tower of London stands at Tower Hill, immediately east of the City of London boundary, and is in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is a World Heritage Site, NHLE 1000092, and a scheduled monument, NHLE 1002061; neither of those designations carries a grade. Tower Hamlets Council's list of conservation areas includes one named The Tower. No source states its opening hours or its admission price, so neither is given here.
History
The buildings within the walls carry their own entries on the National Heritage List for England, all at Grade I: the White Tower, NHLE 1260258; the Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula, NHLE 1357540; the inner curtain wall, NHLE 1242062; the outer curtain wall, NHLE 1242026; and the Middle Tower, NHLE 1065766. Those five are among the 21 Grade I entries the Tower Hamlets borough boundary encloses. The scheduled London Wall section running to Tower Hill, NHLE 1002063, connects the site to the City of London.
