Tunxis State Forest

A state forest spanning Granby, Barkhamsted and Hartland, with major features on or near Routes 20 and 179. Reached from the Route 20/181 junction in Hartland: Howell's Pond with a state boat launch, the Falls Brook Trail to Falls Brook Falls, and a CCC-era ski area off Balance Rock Road. Cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking, letterboxing, mountain biking and hunting; no parking fee.
