Victoria Park

Victoria Park opened in 1845, laid out for the benefit of the East End working population, and opens off Grove Road in Bow. It opens at 7am and closes at dusk, 365 days a year, and is free. It is a registered park and garden, Grade II*, NHLE 1000178, registered on 1 October 1987, and there is a Victoria Park conservation area; a registered park carries a grade but is not a listed building. Historic England records the registered area as 85.15 hectares and the council gives the park as 86 hectares, about 212 acres.
History
Angela Burdett-Coutts paid for the Gothic drinking fountain at the centre of the park, which is listed in its own right at Grade II*, NHLE 1235552, on 4 February 1975. The Regent's Canal runs along the park's southern edge and the Hertford Union Canal along the north. The Hackney boundary runs against the park's northern edge, and the park itself is in Tower Hamlets.
