Quintero Golf Club: Golf in Peoria, Arizona

Troon's own site gives Quintero's address as 16752 W Carefree Hwy, Peoria, AZ 85383. The club's own site gives the address as 16752 W State Route 74, Peoria, AZ 85383. Both share the same house number; the two sources do not agree on what to call the road, so both are given here as each source states them, without asserting that the two names describe the same stretch of pavement. Quintero sits 51.3 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport by road.

Golf Digest's raw ranking page lists Quintero as: "Public / 16. Quintero Golf Club / Peoria, AZ / 3.9 / 29 Panelists / 100 Greatest Public / Best In State / Previous rank: 17," and the course's own Golf Digest page separately carries a "Facility Type: Public" field. Troon's own course page for Quintero, though, states directly under the club's name: "Course type: Semi-private," and its prose continues, "Accessible yet secluded, this semi-private golf club is located..." Golf Digest's own blurb on the course reads: "Quintero, a former private club, is a scenic and playable delight" — the course's history as a former private club is the likely root of the disagreement. Golf Digest calls Quintero "Public"; Troon, the operator, calls it "Semi-private." This guide states both, from each source's own page, and resolves neither. On Golf Digest's 2025-'26 Best in State ranking, Quintero at #16 is the highest-placed course labelled "Public"; #1 through #15 are all "Private."

No membership is required to play Quintero — anyone may book. Reservations go through the club's EzLinks booking engine at quintero2.ezlinksgolf.com, labelled "Book Your Tee Time"; a golfer booking alone can instead use the separate "Single Player" engine at quinteroazres1.ezlinksgolf.com. The club's reservation policy states: "Make a reservation for play up to 90 days in advance of your visit." Every tee time must be confirmed with a credit card. The course is open from 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Arizona residents may book a discounted resident rate on the same 90-day window, but must present a valid Arizona driver's license or ID card at check-in; the policy states the discount applies only to "the AZ Resident, NOT valid for the entire group." You are required to cancel at least 48 hours before the day of play, or, in the policy's words, "the full amount being charged to your card." Groups of 12 or more book by phone, through Mike Poe at (928) 501-1500.

Quintero's own stay-and-play comparison page, published 9 August 2026, states: "Green fees (peak) $162 to $199." A separate course-rates page, last modified 24 June 2026 and headed "Course Rates for Early Morning Tee Times," lists tiered pricing: before 8 AM, $162 pay-now / $171 pay-later for non-residents and $144 / $153 for Arizona residents; at 9 AM, $188 / $199 for non-residents and $167 / $178 for Arizona residents. That page adds its own caveat: "Rates are subject to change. Please see current pricing for resident, non-resident, single-player, and group tee times in our live booking app."

As of the researched date, Troon's own machine-readable facility record for Quintero carries an empty closures list and marks the course bookable; the club's blog has posted as recently as 9 August 2026, and Troon's press-release feed, current through 4 September 2026, has announced nothing new for Quintero. No 2026 closure is confirmed anywhere reachable. Quintero's live EzLinks tee sheet could not be reached for this guide — it returns a Cloudflare block — so an autumn overseed shutdown cannot be ruled out; confirm at booking before travelling. The course has closed for renovation before: Troon's press release, dated November 5, 2025, states the club closed 2 June 2025 and "reopened for public play on November 1" for a five-month, course-wide renovation overseen by Rees Jones, Quintero's original architect, after which the release states: "The newly overseeded golf course is currently cart path only and will be for several weeks to allow the rye grass to mature." Both the closure and the cart-path restriction that followed it are past, not current.

Rees Jones designed Quintero, and, per Troon's press release, "the 7,249-yard, par 72 layout" opened for play in 2000. The 2025 renovation rebuilt all 18 greens, relaid all tee boxes and rebuilt all 65 bunkers; Golf Digest credits that renovation to "Rees Jones, ASGCA/Rees Jones & Steve Weisser (2025)." Golf Digest and Troon's press release both give the yardage as 7,249; Troon's own course page instead states "the 7,208-yard layout" — two of the three sources agree at 7,249, the figure this guide publishes, attributed to Golf Digest. Golf Digest's own published ranking history for Quintero reads: "Best in State: Ranked 15th, 2017-'22. Ranked 16th, 2025-'26. Ranked 17th, 2023-'24." That record contradicts a claim on the club's own site of a "#1 by Golf Digest, 2017" ranking; that claim is not published here.

Quintero's own site describes its on-site lodging as five Terrace Casitas, an Executive Loft and a Private Estate. Troon's press release separately states that Quintero "renovated their nine stay-and-play units to provide guests with updated accommodations, including refreshed kitchens and bathrooms, new flooring and paint throughout the units and new furniture" — Troon's own figure, given here as Troon's figure and not reconciled with the casita, loft and estate line-up named on the club's own site.
