The council adds that the market will be closed on bank holiday Mondays but open on all other public holidays, and puts it about 5 minutes' walk from Barking station. It operates with approximately 80 stalls and a food court area selling street food from many different cultures.
History
The council states that there has been a street market in Barking Town Centre for hundreds of years, in various locations and organised in different ways. The former town hall on the same street, latterly Barking Magistrates Court, is listed at Grade II as NHLE 1359304 and is recorded in OpenStreetMap as converted to apartments with a disused courthouse tag.
