Ripple Nature Reserve covers 8.3 hectares, or 21 acres, between Renwick Road and Thames Road, IG11 0PB, and access is at the corner of the two. It is a Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation owned by the borough council. Barking Riverside station on the Overground's Suffragette line is about 300 m away and Upney about 2 km.

History

Most London soils are acidic; this ground is strongly alkaline because of dumped fuel ash, and that chemistry supports pyramidal and southern marsh orchids, grey club-rush and wild basil.
