Battery Chamberlin

The battery at the north end of Baker Beach, completed and armed in 1904 with four six-inch guns on disappearing carriages, and modified in 1920 to take two six-inch guns on simple barbette carriages. Loading demonstrations run 11AM to 3PM on the first full weekend of the month.
History
In 1977 the National Park Service received Six-Inch Rifled Gun No. 9 and its disappearing carriage from the Smithsonian Institution, and installed them at gun emplacement Number Four. The gun is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, reference number 79000255, certified 7 February 1979.
