Chiesa di Sant'Andrea del Vignola

A small votive chapel on via Flaminia, also called Sant'Andrea a via Flaminia; its own article places it in the quartiere Flaminio. It is a brick parallelepiped with a peperino façade articulated by pilasters under a triangular pediment; inside are a rectangular hall and a rectangular apse, with an oval half-dome carried on an internal oval cornice. It is a subsidiary place of worship of the parish of Sant'Eugenio. No source states its opening hours, so none are given here.
History
It was built about 1553 to a design by Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola for Julius III, inside the grounds of his suburban villa, the Villa Giulia, as a votive chapel marking his escape from Rome on 30 November, St Andrew's day, during the Sack of 1527. It was partly restored between 1826 and 1830, with Giuseppe Valadier involved; the polychrome floor was restored in 1950 under the architect Zander; the dome was re-clad in lead in 1977 and returned to coccio pesto in the 1990s.
