Monumento a Giacomo Matteotti (L'idea, la morte)
Attraction · Flaminio, Italy
An abstract bronze by Iorio Vivarelli on lungotevere Arnaldo da Brescia: a tall slender spire rising from a tangle at its base, on the small semicircular green plot at the Scalo de Pinedo, which it adjoins. A plaque facing the road carries words attributed to Matteotti at his death.
History
Giacomo Matteotti, deputy and secretary of the Partito Socialista Unitario, was seized by a fascist squad on 10 June 1924. The monument was funded by a private subscription promoted by the Partito Socialista Italiano and was unveiled in 1974, the fiftieth anniversary of the killing.
