History
SF Planning records the construction year of 626-636 Jackson Street as 1925. It was built as the Great China Theater for Chinese opera. The Pacific Chinese Dramatic Club took offices in the theatre in 1930. Bruce Lee's father performed on its stage, and Lee himself appeared as an infant in the 1941 Cantonese film Golden Gate Girl, directed by Esther Eng. The theatre was refurbished from 2010 and reopened on 18 June 2021 by Alice Chu and Roger Pincombe.
