Delmonico's traces to a confectionery founded in 1827 and a restaurant the house dates to 1837, billed as America's first fine-dining establishment; house tradition credits the kitchen with creating the Delmonico ribeye in 1850. It closed during Prohibition in 1923, was revived by Oscar Tucci in 1926, and reopened again in September 2023 under new ownership.
