Fontana in piazza dei Quiriti

The Sovrintendenza Capitolina records the fountain in piazza dei Quiriti as the work of the Triestine sculptor Attilio Selva (1888-1970), winner of the national competition announced by the Amministrazione capitolina in 1924 for five fountains in five Roman squares in recently built quarters. It dates it 1928, in marble and travertine, originally fed from the Acqua Marcia. It records that the nudity of the four kneeling female figures set off argument first between the sculptor, the Governatorato and Catholic associations, then in the press, delaying an unveiling that had been set for 21 April 1928. The Sovrintendenza gives no replacement date and this guide supplies none.
