History
Fort Dummer, established in 1724, sat where Brattleboro now stands; its original site was submerged in 1908 after construction of the Vernon Dam, per Vermont State Parks' own Fort Dummer State Park page. Fort Dummer State Park offers camping, including tent/RV and lean-to sites, along with hiking, swimming, and picnicking.
