Jefferson Market Library
Historic site · Greenwich Village, New York
A working NYPL branch inside the Victorian Gothic former courthouse designed by Frederick Clark Withers, completed 1874-1877; an 1880s architects' poll ranked it among the ten most beautiful buildings in America, and it's topped by a roughly 100-foot firewatcher's clock tower overlooking the Village.
