John Paul Jones Park
Park · Fort Hamilton, New York
City parkland acquired from the City of Brooklyn in 1897 and named for the Revolutionary War naval commander John Paul Jones. It sits at the foot of the Army post and is open to anyone.
History
The park holds a twenty-inch Civil War-era Rodman gun, given by the US Military in 1900, as part of a Civil War memorial; a 1916 Revolutionary War memorial tablet donated by the Daughters of the American Revolution; the 1931 Dover Patrol Naval War Memorial, a gift from England's Sir Aston Webb; and a flagpole made from a naval destroyer's mast, added in 1980.
