Kew Palace stands inside the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, TW9 3AE, and is cared for by Historic Royal Palaces, an independent charity that receives no funding from the government or the Crown. It is Grade I listed, NHLE 1263073, and the remains of the earlier palace on the site are a scheduled monument, NHLE 1002019, which carries no grade. History
The surviving main building, known as the Dutch House, dates to 1631 and was built on the undercroft of an earlier building. Royal occupation ran from about 1728 until 1818, with a final short-lived occupation in 1844. The adjoining service range is separately Grade I listed as Kew Palace Flats, NHLE 1263074, and the Orangery is Grade I listed, NHLE 1263075. Nearby survivals include a former housekeeper's cottage, a brewhouse and a kitchen block; most are private, though the Royal Kitchens are open to the public. Queen Charlotte's Cottage, elsewhere in the gardens, is Grade II* listed, NHLE 1262486, and is also run by Historic Royal Palaces.
