The square at the Tempio Maggiore, named for a child killed in the attack on the synagogue in 1982.
History
The square carries the name of Stefano Gaj Taché, who was two years old. At 11.55 on Saturday 9 October 1982, Shemini Atzeret, and the day several dozen of the community's adolescents were celebrating their bar mitzvah, attackers threw grenades and fired on people leaving the Tempio Maggiore. He was killed by grenade fragments. About forty people were wounded, among them his parents and his four-year-old brother Gadiel.
