Per the same page, construction took eight months and the resort opened for business on December 27, 1966, with its first season featuring 12 trails, two lifts, and one toilet. Sherman Adams served as the resort's president and general manager until his death in 1986, per Loon Mountain Resort's own History page. Loon Mountain was purchased by Boyne Resorts in 2018, which the resort's own History page describes as "placing assets and operational control under one entity." In 2019, per that same page, Loon introduced what it describes as "North America's first ever dual-frequency RFID gates" at key base-area lifts. According to Loon Mountain Resort's own History page, the South Peak Expansion, completed in 2023, added 11 trails and one four-person chairlift.
