Lumley Chapel

The Lumley Chapel stands in St Dunstan's churchyard on Church Road, Cheam, SM3 8QH, and is listed Grade II* as NHLE 1183440. It is the chancel of Cheam's medieval parish church, left standing when the rest of the old church was demolished in 1864, and it is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. History
The Grade II* listing was made on 28 August 1953 as list entry 1183440, under the list entry name "Remains of Old Church of St Dunstan, now known as the Lumley Chapel" and the statutory address "Church Road". It is named for John, Baron Lumley, who remodelled it in the 1590s, and the Lumley monuments and brasses are the reason the fragment was kept. It stands free in the churchyard about 18 m from the Victorian church, and the two buildings are separate entries.
