The Grade II* listing was made on 31 January 1974 and amended on 10 December 1975, under the statutory address 'Millfield House, Silver Street N18'. Historic England describes a 'Late C18 former country house now linked at back to later hospital buildings. 2 storeys, 9 windows, the central 3-bay section recessed', with 'an oval entrance lobby and an oval stairwell with curved staircase and glass dome.' The house was formerly St David's Hospital and the older list text is filed under that name. The entrance lodge is separately listed Grade II, NHLE 1079505. The operator directs visitors to 'Silver Street Station: via Enfield Town, Cheshunt or Liverpool Street lines' and adds 'Then walk for 15 minutes or catch buses 34, 102, 144 from opposite Silver Street Stn'; Silver Street station, served by Greater Anglia and the Overground Weaver line, is about 907 m from the house.
