Mostra dell'Acqua Felice (Villa Borghese)

Historic site · Pinciano, Italy

A late eighteenth-century water display on viale Pietro Canonica: a sarcophagus slab carried by two griffins and surmounted by a lion, with a shell-shaped fountainlet on either side.

History

Antonio Asprucci built it. It takes its name from the Acqua Felice, whose aqueduct works for the villa were entrusted to Giovanni Fontana in 1610.
