Naugatuck Green and the Naugatuck Center Historic District
Historic site · Naugatuck, Connecticut
An 80-acre district listed on the National Register on July 30, 1999, built around a green donated by an innkeeper in 1831. Contributing buildings include eleven McKim, Mead & White commissions financed by industrialist John Howard Whittemore — among them the Whittemore Library — plus the Spanish Revival railroad station and post office. A self-guided walking tour is available from the Naugatuck Historical Society.
