Naugatuck State Forest

A 4,153-acre state forest in five blocks (Mount Sanford, East, West, Quillinan Reservoir and Great Hill), managed by CT DEEP. Its founding land was assembled by Harris Whittemore of Naugatuck beginning in 1921, with nearly 2,000 acres donated by his family in 1931. Recreation includes blue-blazed Naugatuck and Quinnipiac trail hiking, mountain-bike singletrack in the Quillinan block, fishing, hunting and cross-country skiing.
