The fire house at 1348 10th Avenue, built in 1898 to a design by Charles Wilson. San Francisco Landmark No. 29, designated in 1970. San Francisco Planning records the style as Altered Shingle and the property type as government, and describes the building's wide double doors and tall hose drying tower.
History
It opened in 1898 and housed Chemical Engine No. 2. In 1900, Engine 22 was transferred here. After the 1906 earthquake the company spent 45 hours assisting in the evacuation of patients from Park Emergency Hospital on Stanyan Street, and the building also served as a food distribution center in the disaster's aftermath. It ceased operating in 1962. No source states its use today, so none is given here.
