Oliver Ellsworth Homestead

The home of Oliver Ellsworth, a delegate to the Continental Congress and third Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court; both George Washington and John Adams visited. David Ellsworth built the original structure in 1740, and Oliver Ellsworth's family moved into a new house in 1782. The Ellsworth family transferred it to the Connecticut Daughters of the American Revolution in 1903, which has operated it as a house museum since. Open for tours May through the end of October.
