Tempio di Ercole e area sacra repubblicana

A republican temple on a high podium with a six-column pronaos, standing in a walled precinct that also holds the Tempio tetrastilo, the Aula delle Are and the Tempio dell'Ara rotonda. A copy of the votive statue of Cartilio Poplicola stands in the pronaos.
History
Raised between the end of the second and the start of the first century BC, with restorations documented into the fourth century AD. A marble relief dedicated by a haruspex shows a statue of Hercules recovered from the sea and a scene of divination. The remains were identified in 1794.
