Ponte Settimia Spizzichino

A road bridge that crosses the railway and metro line B, beside Garbatella station and the former Mercati Generali, carrying the Circonvallazione Ostiense. It is a steel space-frame tied arch on three supports, carrying a double deck on steel cables: 160 metres overall, with a central suspended span of 126 metres and a rise of 42 metres, two carriageways of 16.5 metres with three lanes each and a 1.5-metre cycle lane in the central strip.
History
The executive design was by Solidus s.r.l., with Francesco Del Tosto, and the bridge was built by Cimolai SpA, with lighting by Francesco Bianchi, over three years on site; it was inaugurated on 20 June 2012 at a cost of about 15.4 million euro. It was named on the proposal of the giunta of Municipio VIII for Settimia Spizzichino, who survived the round-up of the Roman Ghetto on 16 October 1943 and deportation to Auschwitz.
