Palazzo Cardelli
Historic site · Campo Marzio, Italy
A palace on piazza Cardelli whose construction Roma Capitale dates from 1592, by Francesco da Volterra.
History
Roma Capitale describes two courtyards, the main one holding the stables and the second a well of the acqua vergine; an entrance hall with stuccoes and niches; coffered ceilings and tempera painting by Francesco Allegrini; and a roof garden with a stucco Apollo by Naldini. The Domus Magna façade is given to Francesco Capriani da Volterra and then Gaspare Guerra, and the rear of the building and the staircase to Francesco Peparelli, between 1630 and 1639.
