Palazzo Doria Pamphilj

A family palace occupying most of a block between via del Corso and the streets behind it, still in family administration and open as a house museum through its picture gallery. Its address is on the Corso, but it stands in Pigna.
History
The family administration's own account describes a palace built on the core of Cardinal Fazio Santoro's early sixteenth-century residence and grown by annexation over five hundred years, through the Della Rovere, Aldobrandini, Pamphilj, Doria Pamphilj, Facchinetti, Colonna, Borghese and Savoia families. The gallery took its present form between 1731 and 1734, when Prince Camillo Pamphilj the younger commissioned Gabriele Valvassori to rework the Corso range.
